My IVF gals know that a 'follie' is our term for a follicle. In IVF it all starts with glowing follicles, which in turn have an egg in then. On the other hand, according to Wikipedia:
"A folly is a building constructed primarily for decoration, but either suggesting by its appearance some other purpose, or merely so extravagant that it transcends the normal range of garden ornaments or other class of building to which it belongs"
So, it turns out I have 8 dominant ornaments and two small ones. And they do transcend the normal range. They are extravagant and growing fast. Faster than expected, so I'm hoping they will take my meds down and let some small follies catch up, rather than change my egg retrieval day to sooner. That would suck. So just waiting for the call from the nurse.
As for being Denver, it rocks. Literally...can see the mountains from my room. Love it. And I am very impressed with how well I did to get here. Big pat on my back. As I reflect, from the last negative result in November to now, it's exactly 5 months. The amount of paper work, phone calls, panic, running around and 90 !!! e-mails with my nurse, I'm here. I'm even more impressed how long it took me to sneak in a shiny new pair of Nine West pumps from DSW last night. Hadn't even unpacked yet! There are so many cool places to eat and shop here, I don't know what to do with myself. At this moment though, a nap is in store.
Thank you all for advice about my follies. It helped. And I get to have dinner with IVFlygirl tonight. How great is that!!
Yay! Awesome news Iveta - sounds like your follies are doing great! Hope you're having a GREAT time in Denver and get to do lots of shopping and sight-seeing!
ReplyDeleteLOL!! I know...its nothing short of a sheer miracle to keep up with all their demands pre-IVF!! And SOO glad to read about your 8 + 2 follies! I am sooo hopeful for you Iveta. And isn't Denver just the coolest?! DH and I did many roadtrips around the Denver region when we were there and we just LOVED Colorado. I knew it was nice or heard it was nice...but seriously? Why aren't more SKer's taking the quick 2hr flight to Denver? And the shopping...its great!! Love the Park Meadows Mall...and the food!! So cheap and sooooo good! Ah...Please give Flygirl one giant bear hug for me. Can't wait to hear all about your meeting!
ReplyDeleteYeah - you are still going strong. I recommend Root Down - yummy food in a swanky place! Also, my favorite breakfast was at Snooze. The lines are crazy so I would recommend going during the week.
ReplyDeleteSo bizarre to be reading your post from Denver as well! I was actually in the waiting room reading on my phone, but couldn't comment until now. :) Have fun at your dinner tonight!
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful to see you last night! Hoping your other follies will catch up quickly.
ReplyDeleteYes, we feel so lucky to be able to live in such an incredibly beautiful part of the country. From the upper level of our house, we can see for miles and to wake up to a stunning sunrise makes you appreciate facing another day. When we go downstairs to have breakfast, we watch our neighbors horses eating breakfast too- even though we're only about 15 minutes from downtown.
Us locals like to keep the secret - so if anyone asks, do us a favor and describe Denver as a place with unbearable traffic, bitterly cold weather, a high cost of living, and no "green space".
Oh, I thought of one more place you might enjoy seeing while you are here - Golden. The Coors brewery gives free tours, the town is adorable and it's a treat to eat on an outdoor patio at one of the restaurants overlooking the river. On weekends, you can see handgliders who launch from Lookout Mountain. It's a great way to spend an afternoon.
I had a dream last night about holding a dark-haired baby boy, whom I was told was my nephew, then I couldn't stand up, kept falling over holding him, but later I was told he was yours. Dunno what the falling over was about! I think there was a girl too, but I don't remember.
